Suicide remains a critical public health concern, especially among men, who are significantly more likely to die by suicide than women.

Globally, male suicide rates are more than double those of females—12.3 per 100,000 compared to 5.9 per 100,000. In the United States, men accounted for nearly 79% of all suicides in 2022, with male suicide rates approximately four times higher than those of women. These numbers highlight a pressing, often overlooked epidemic.

Several factors contribute to this disparity: societal norms that stigmatize vulnerability, underdiagnosis of mental health conditions in men, and the use of more lethal means in suicide attempts. Many men are less likely to seek help due to cultural expectations of toughness and self-reliance, leading to isolation and untreated mental health struggles.
